Deck Truss Bridges on the State Highway System in Kansas
These six bridges on the state highway system have a design that is similar to the one that collapsed in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 1st, 2007. Each bridge is a unique structure. These bridges have components that are similar to the steel arch truss structure that collapsed in Minnesota, but are not exactly the same.

All of the deck truss bridges on the state highway system are inspected at least once a year.

    1. U.S. 59 (Amelia Earhart) bridge over the Missouri River at Atchison (scheduled for rehabilitation or replacement beginning in 2009). There is a short deck truss section on each side of the river. The majority of the bridge is a different design, called a through truss.
    2. U.S. 69 (18th Street) bridge over the Kansas River in Wyandotte County
    3. U.S. 169 bridge northbound over the railroad in Wyandotte County
    4. I-70 westbound intercity viaduct over the railroad in Wyandotte County
    5. I-70 eastbound intercity viaduct over the Kansas River in Wyandotte County
    6. I-70 westbound intercity viaduct over the Kansas River in Wyandotte County
